Two weeks ago, we had a visit with the neurologist. He said that he seems to be developing at exactly the same pace as his brother. He is starting to feel like we may not have to get another MRI. If Nolan keeps developing the way he has been, we probably won't do it. We will go in again in six months (so a month before their second birthday) and evaluate then. If he wants to do an MRI, it will take a few weeks to schedule from there so it would be done shortly after his birthday. The purpose of this would just be to see how the injury has effected his brain and what, if any, issues we may need to consider in the future. He seemed to be pretty confident however, that we won't need to worry about that. We couldn't be more excited. Getting to a place where we don't have any extra doctor visits will be so awesome!
We also visited the pediatrician. Here are their stats:
Nolan-
Weight: 26 pounds - 52 percentile

He pointed out that Nolan's face and chest seem to be a big bigger and more broad than Mackay's so he'll probably continue to weigh just a little more. He said that the structure of Nolan's face seems to be a little thinner (which makes sense considering he was stuck in the birth canal for so long) and that type of structure usually requires a little more muscle. He's also got more of a barrel chest like his dad. Makes us a little sad because we like them being so identical, but... maybe more people will be able to tell them apart.
The last three Well-Child visits we've had, both boys have had ear infections. They don't seem to bother them, but the doctor always finds them. Because we haven't been in in between their normal visits, we are trying to decide if it is just coincidence that they get colds and then ear infections a few weeks before these visits or if their ears have been infected for the past six months. Because their ears don't bother them, the only real concern is that it could slightly effect their hearing and in turn their speech. Not much, but he compared the ear infections to hearing under water... mama recently had an ear infection and it's not quite as hard to hear as being under water, just more muffled... so the doctor said it would just make it so their words and sounds aren't as crisp.
We will go back in two months, after spring has had a chance to clear out any colds that may still be lingering from the winter and see what they look like then. If they are still infected, he will do a hearing test to determine if we need to have tubes put in their ears. Hopefully, it's coincidental that they have just been getting sick before it's time to see the doctor and everything is fine, they seem to pick up on sounds and noises just fine and we don't hear anything in the way they speak that would make a case for the infections, but we will see.
Their little personalities have become so strong lately. They are hilarious. They love to be silly. They have started giving each other loves, it's slowly progressed over the past month. They used to just tilt their heads toward each other and awkwardly walk until they somehow touched their heads to the others back, shoulder, head, or arm. They've barely started lifting their arms over each others shoulders and giving full on hugs. It's the sweetest thing but usually results in a crash because they can't control themselves together and aren't quite sure yet how to untangle themselves. They will give loves to anything you ask them too by holding it up against their faces. They are both obsessed with their dump trucks and any other car or truck they may find. They also LOVE tractors and balls... seriously, little boys. The love playing outside. They are still fabulous eaters, for the most part, although they are starting to figure out their tastes. We do have to resort to chicken nuggets more frequently. They love socks. They are starting to understand a lot of what we say and respond to things we ask them to do. They will go find their abandoned tooth brushes and look at their feet when asked "wheres your sockies?" (yes, terrible grammar, we know). They ask for more, and specifically for crackers or cookies. They love to watch airplanes and helicopters outside and if you ask where they are they both look up and point at the sky. If Nolan is somewhere Mackay wants to be, Mackay will try to move him... he pushes him off mama or daddy's laps or grabs him by the hips or shoulders and tries to gently move him around. They are both pretty sound sleepers, they have slept through knocks at the door, Lady barking, mama and daddy talking, and lots of other loud sounds.
NOLAN-
- Boy what a goofy kid. He loves to make words up, especially when you ask him an animal sound that he doesn't know, or just isn't in the mood to tell you.
- Still doesn't care to talk as much as Mackay does, but speaks a lot of gibberish. He'll chose a word or two that are his favorite for a few days and use those words for most things. Once he gets them down, he stores them in his little brain and uses them correctly, when he is in the mood.
- He doesn't sleep as well as Mackay. He wakes up once or twice a night and wakes up earlier in the morning (although mom can usually get him back to sleep in bed with her for another hour or so). He almost always wakes up about an hour into his nap... you can set a timer to him.
-kuh-kuh and kah-kah are his favorite words, they are barely discernible, for truck and car.
- Loves to show you a toy and when you tell him what it is he wraps his arm around it and puts it up by his face to "give it loves".
- When he says Lady he says "dady" and when you respond he says it again, much louder and much more enthusiastically.
- Will run full speed then trot on the ball of one foot and the other foot flat to slow himself down.
- Loves jumping and actually catches air.
- Loves climbing up and down the stairs.
- Has started to enjoy books more but only if he sees certain ones or if Mackay wants to read, then Nolan wants to read as well.
- Loves stacking things and moving them from one box (or bucket or basket) to the floor or another box.
-Gets very concentrated.
- Quickly moves on to anything he thinks is more fun or better than what he is doing.
- Shakes his head and says "no" when he is doing something he's not supposed to do.

- Loves throwing anything and everything... and is a really awesome shot. He's also become surprisingly good at catching for his age.
- Has a new love for Mounie or Ninnie (Minnie). He loves her.
- Leaves one foot on the ground when he jumps, but still thinks it's pretty funny.
- Loves sitting in grown up chairs... of course not for very long, but he does slow down for a minute for them.
- When you ask where his nose is, he points to his collar bone... and thinks it's really funny.
- Loves pointing at everything with his one little finger.
- LOVES "nunny" (bunny)
- LOVES reading
- Does not like sharing a lap with his brother anymore
- Gets very attached to a toy, usually has to bring something with him when we leave the house.
They love bath time, riding in the car, walks, their toys, running, Lady, giving loves, pushing their dump trucks around, their dump trucks, any trucks, anything with wheels, balls, animals... their farm movie, Mickey, animal sounds (their favorites are a crocodile -for which they clap their hands and say "nap" (snap), a monkey -which is just a high pitched noise, and a snake)... and well pretty much everything. They are such wonderfully happy, smiley, cuddly, lovey little guys.
These boys will make anyone happy. It is so hard not to smile at them. They are so much fun and watching them grow together is such a fun experience.
