We went to the zoo on the 4th. The first thing we saw were the giraffes, they became the boys' new favorite animal. Anytime we asked what they saw at the zoo, that's pretty much the only thing they remembered seeing. The giraffes and the elephants, but always the giraffes first.
This guy was not our biggest fan. He watched us the entire time we watched him. He watched us round the corner and just kept looking at us. It's a good thing there was a wall or he probably would have chased us. He doesn't look very friendly.
LOVED the train ride! It was the only place we were able to see the male lion, but the boys just love trains and thought it was awfully awesome.
We ran outside in our underwear one day and started digging in the dirt. We had so much fun and got very dirty. Mom just let us play and thought it was funny that we got so dirty, so naturally, she took some photos.
The boys found sticks and put them in the water to "go fishing" they loved it! And yes, the sticks came home with us.
We went to Vinyard (by Orem) to Pumpkinland pumpkin patch with our friend Logan. We ran through the corn maze, played on the play grounds, saw the farm animals, watched the trains drive by, and got pumpkins to bring home. It was such a fun day.
Daddy was looking for tickets to the Utes football game when someone offered him some Jazz tickets. We weren't sure how it would go, we haven't done a lot of basketball, but we grabbed the boys and rode the train downtown for the game.
This is how they had to sit in order to not be sad or scared. Nolan was fine and loved the whole thing, until Bear came out on a motorcycle and revved the engine and the man started talking loudly over the loud speaker. He had to sit on someone's lap. We got some toilet paper to put in his years and he at least turned around and watched what was going on. He finally got distracted enough during half time that he forgot how afraid he was and started having fun. Mackay hated the height. He refused to sit in his chair. After we got food we asked if he wanted to sit on the ground. He was very happy after that and had fun the entire game. We left after the third quarter because it was bedtime and we still had a 45 minute train ride to get home. They definitely had a fun night.
Our cousins came for Halloween from Denver. We love playing with them. We played at grandma's house, went to The Museum of Natural Curiosity, and saw the witches at Gardner Village.
All of the Sorensen cousins.
Mackay was sick the entire day before we went to see the witches and Nolan was sick that night, and again the next day (Halloween) he threw up right before we went trick or treating but was fine after that, and both were sick again Saturday night/early Sunday morning. They didn't eat any of their candy (or really anything else) until Monday when they were finally over it. As sick as they were, we were all just happy that they at least felt well enough to trick or treat and enjoy Halloween.
The spent the whole day in mommy and daddy's bed just waiting to throw up again. During the evenings we watched Chuck on mommy's computer. They are so good to each other when they are sick. They keep themselves entertained so mommy can take care of whichever boy is sick. And they love to snuggle when the sick boy starts feeling a little better.
Finally, we got to go trick or treating. The boys hated their costumes. We tried to let them chose them and they told us to put everything back, so we just grabbed something (we got them buy one get one free, we never get deals like that, so we had to take advantage of it). There were many tears shed trying to get them on but we finally did it. They LOVED trick or treating. They seemed so big this year. They walked up to every house all by themselves, very politely said "trick or treat" and "thank you and happy halloween" as they left. It was so fun to watch them having so much fun and being so grown up. We didn't really get any pictures because they were so upset about their costumes. The first thing they did when we got home wasn't ask for candy, it was demand that we take their costumes off. When they saw them in the laundry later they said "I don't want to wear my costune ever, every again." Now we know. Maybe they will like something better next year.
October was a fun and busy month. The boys are already begging for a Christmas tree and watching Christmas shows on Netflix. Maybe we'll be able to explain about waiting until after Thanksgiving next year.
