On Monday the 28th we went to Gardner Village with the Jensons. Our boys were afraid of the witches, especially Nolan, so we didn't get any pictures
On Tuesday, the 29th, we carved pumpkins with our friends, The Jensons. We did it in the evening and in their garage and mommy forgot her camera in the car, so we didn't get any pictures. Mom and dad carved pumpkins and all three boys (best friend Nash included) colored their pumpkins with markers. We put them out on the porch and it rained that night... everything washed off the boys' pumpkins. Which mama was ok with because then we got to do it again the next morning and get pictures this time :)
The night before Halloween we went shopping to grab the finishing touches for mom and dad's costumes. Halloween morning around 8 am Nolan woke up and almost threw up. Poor kid. He got back in bed and fell back asleep and daddy left for work. Around 9:30 Mackay was eating breakfast and watching Chuck and Friends (a dump truck and his friends, a tractor, a firetruck, a tow truck, etc). I heard this little voice from the bedroom calling me. I went to check on Nolan, he was awake and told me he wanted to watch trucks. I brought him into the kitchen and put him in his chair. He still looked pretty sleepy so I asked if he wanted to go back to bed. He said "no". I asked if he wanted anything to eat, he said "no". I asked if he wanted some water to drink, he said "yes". So I got him a drink of water. I put it down and went back to feeding Mackay. A minute or so later Nolan slowly put his head down on the table. I walked around the table to look at him and he was asleep...
I brought him back to bed and he told me he wanted to watch trucks again. I told him I'd be right back, and he went back to sleep. Mackay didn't know what to do without his brother all morning and had to play on the bed or in the room where he was. Any time he opened his eyes for a minute Mackay was right by his side saying "Hi Nanan" over and over again, and trying to make him laugh. Speaking twin language "dih dih dih dih dah" waiting for Nolan's normal response of "no" so they could laugh and laugh. But he wasn't getting it. He slept until about 11:30 and tried to eat some bagel (that grandma brought over). Around noon he snapped out of it, asked to sit in his chair, and wanted a bagel with peanut butter. He was fine the rest of the day. He went down for a nap at his normal time and slept the normal hour and a half nap. Woke up and was happy as could be.
We all got into costume, it's so funny to me how it's just built into boys to LOVE capes, kinda like their attraction to cars. We went to Trunk or Treat at our church the boys had practiced saying "Trick or Treat" all day. At first Mackay wouldn't say it to anyone, but he would say "thank you" every time he got a piece of candy. Once they learned how it worked, they were in heaven! They loved this Halloween thing. And they both started saying "Trick or Treat" to everyone. They held their own buckets the entire time and stayed with mom and dad so much better than we were expecting. They only let go of a hand to take a piece of candy and put it in their buckets, then they'd reach back up and grab our hands again.
They had a ton of fun. They really wanted candy when we got home, so we let them have a few pieces. They forgot all about it the next morning, but mom reminded them.
When we got home, we let the boys' hand out candy to the few trick or treaters we got. They were a little confused when someone had something other than a bucket like theirs, but they had fun and eventually got the hang of it.
Can't wait for next year! This Halloween thing is pretty awesome.
